Artist's Description
This image presents an historical piece of California history. Many missions were established by Spanish explorers who were sent over by the King of Spain to conquer and claim new lands. They sailed by ship and landed in what is now California. They would ride about a day and then stop and establish a settlement which included the forced enslavement of the local native population.
Today, this mission is still operated as a working Catholic Church.
